Does anybody know where we can buy local flour for breadmaking. I make bread every week and normally buy either Wessex flour (from Danestream farm shop) or Leckford flour from Waitrose, but would love something more local if it is available. I believe Eling Tide Mill sell flour, but do they have any outlets apart from having to travel all the way to them from Barton on Sea.

thanks for all this info - I'm now off to Setley to get some flour...

Thanks for the help. We did go to Setley on Saturday and buy some 1.5kg bags. If Eling do bigger bags it would definitely be worth the trip as I use 1kg a week to keep us in bread, so doesn't sound like there would be a problem with use by date.

I know it's still a long way to travel but... we buy a 12kg bag from the tide mill and the 'use by' date last time was over 5 months away. You do need to check before you go that they've been able to mill and so have enough flour.

Setley ridge definatly sell the ealing tide brands. Head up the shop, left hand side, quite low on the shelves.

Oh, and the other place to try is Setley Ridge Vineyard, they stock quite a lot of local produce.

Ali, I would ask Jane Pownall or Sue Cole (both now signed up to the food challenge) they live in Minstead and I believe their village shop has just started to stock the flour from Eling Tide Mill. Sarah.
