Seed swapping

Sue and I made it over to Southampton yesterday to to see the Seed Swap under way. Ziggy who runs that side of things was kind enough to explain the way she organises the operation, all very relaxed and flexible.

We took along some home saved Sarpo seed potatoes, some Runner bean seeds and also some Strawberry plants from new virus free stock. We came back with some Squash seeds and some interesting Tomato varieties that are new to us.

Packeting seeds for the VegEvent

We love Runner Beans and our favourite variety is Wisley Magic, we save lots of seed every year.

This year we have more than ever so that means we have plenty spare for the seed swap at the VegEvent. Thankfully Runner beans are not promiscuous, they tend to self pollinate and so come 'true' from home saved seed, even if you grow other beans in the garden. We like cheese!

I tried the cheese from the Fernhill Cheese Company and went back for more! Soft, creamy and fresh, the children liked it too. Worth stopping at their stall at Lymington Saturday Market just opposite St Thoma's Church.
