eat local, grow local
Hi all,
I realise now that everyone is in picking and pickling mode, but I just wanted to tell you about our ideas for 2012, so that you can mull over somes ideas that might help us.
What we are really looking to do is make more land available for food growing, in whatever form.
We have come up with a few ideas, below, but please just add to them as well.

The weekly newsletter asked what we are up to...?
Well, in the garden I am on a big slug removal drive! I am also deciding on which seeds to plant this year. I have some raspberries, loganberries and blackcurrants I want to plant out this weekend, and really, looking for some more time to do everything in!
On the local food front, have a nice bottle of NF cider to open later this evening...

My children used to love this book, its called Eddie's Garden and how to make things grow. If you are thinking of planting beans, pumpkins, flowers, carrots etc.. this book really inspires, and so does Eddie's little sister Lily!
Another favourite of mine is the Enormous Turnip. You can buy a book, or even have it read on line at the BBC…

National Vegetarian Week is a great opportunity to promote your locally grown and locally made produce.
Newspapers and radio will be looking for local angles and local stories to put a local spin on the Ntaional Vegetarian Week…

I tried the cheese from the Fernhill Cheese Company and went back for more! Soft, creamy and fresh, the children liked it too. Worth stopping at their stall at Lymington Saturday Market just opposite St Thoma's Church.
