Ok, so the Food Challenge is an eat local, grow local group. What can we do change planning policy? Is it a New Forest 'law' or a national one? Is the NPA just implementing something that's out of date and needs to be revisited? Or is the 10% acr...

Berries

Well, I have spent the last month sourcing some berry plants to plant and get a crop for next year (or may be the year after!)

I have got plants in a number of ways:

- Bought 3x (blueberry, blackcurrant and raspberry) from the 99p shop. (I swore I would never buy anything in there, and I haven't apart from these three plants - but will be interesting to see what flourishes over time?)
- Bought an established loganberry through an online shop. Looks very healthy, hopefully should fruit next yea… Continue

Diarists Review

We have had 6 diary keepers working hard over the last 5-6 months, trying to eat more local food, and even trying to grow some of their own. They have been supported by a couple of more experienced veggie growers, which has been a great help, thank you guys.

We have now asked the diary keepers to write a short review about their experiences over the summer months and about how the Food Challenge has challenged and even changed them:

Suggestions for Eating Locally?

Can anyone suggest and/or recommend somewhere we can take my parents in law, out for a meal, that includes some locally produced food?
Thanks

Transition Handbooks for Sale

I have recently purchased 15 copies of both the Transition Handbook and the Transition Timeline book.

If anyone would like to purchase one/other/both we are selling them at £10 each (RRP £12.95).

Email me on resources@newforesttransition.org to reserve a copy. I will try and sell them at some of the local events too.

Thanks, Sarah

Hi Sarah
ummm, just lost a message I was writing to you so you may get one and a half replies!!
Yes conference sounds right - nice n juicy! I will be planting it at my parents, as their garden lends itself to a baby tree more than mine, and collection at Pennington would be best for us. I am sure I will be able to plant at the planned time to share the energy of all planters. Have also booked a table at the Green fair so thanks for that info.
see yo soon

I am so sorry (which I know is hard to convey by message), but I am unable to collect the tree. I hope this reaches you in time to cancel, otherwise I hope you can find the tree a lovely new home.
So sorry Sarah.

Ooh a Grenadier would be lovely. Do you know at this stage, where the pick up points would be? Only so I can double check that I can get (rope) a friend into sorting me out a lift. Thanks again Sarah and can I just say what a beautiful idea. FREE TREES!!

Thank you so much. I'm getting very excited at the possibility!!

Gary, my partner loves russets so it is for him that I request a russet tree and we planted a "Concorde" pear last year, but it didn't bear fruit. Although they are said to be "self fertile" I wonder if planting an additional one would help it bear fruit next year!!??

Thank you again.
