FoodTalk post by Helga Parker

unusual veggies

Dear Richard,Interesting reading and viewing this weekend, thank you!Being bored over Christmas and dying to get out to my allotment again, and wanting to buy something for the new growing season, I came across an ebay seller listing his unusual crops. Funnily enough, one of them is an "Oca", I also got a Shetland Black heritage potato and a Yacon Plant. I can't wait to dig them in and see what comes out!If you send me your address, I will print his information sheet and send it to you.Best…See More

Why do you think local food production is important?
We should all try and produce and eat our own local food. It tastes so much better, and greatly reduces carbon footprints. Having had an allotment for just over one year, and having made mistakes, I hope to do a lot better in the coming seasons. As a family we have also planted fruit trees, kindly supplied by you. It's all very satisfying and a lot of fun. Thank you for showing us the way.
