Hi folks!

I wonder if there's anyone else growing and producing their own food who has the same problem as us - surpluses of some produce and nothing of others? If anyone's interested in starting up a food-swap with us I'd be really interested to hear.

We currently have a surplus of eggs (our own free-range chickens) and crab-apples. We've not had a very good year for vegetables so we'd be very pleased to "trade" our produce for root veg or greens or other fruit.

We're at Lyndhurst, but most weeks we also go to/through Totton, Ashurst, Hythe, Lymington, Brockenhurst, Minstead and Cadnam so could arrange drop-offs/pick-ups in these areas.

Hope to hear from you!

Hi Cathy.......great idea. At the mo I haven't got anything much to swap but maybe we should start a swap club group on the site for people to post info on what they have and what they'd like? I'm just up the road from you in Ashurst....
If you think the group idea is a good one feel free to start it up and I'll tell everyone about it in the next Friday Food email. Best wishes - Richard
It's a great idea Cathy, I'm the other side of the Forest though so not much help but open to swapping with folks over Fordingbridge way. We have surplus salad leaves at present, and some turnips ( small but sweet) - anyone like to make something with some white Bullace that we have spare?
Hi Richard,

That sounds like a good idea - but not sure that I could field it at the moment myself - a small crisis which I need to urgently address has sprung up very inconveniently! So my time won't be my own for a few weeks I'm afraid! If anyone out there is interested to pick this one up that would be wonderful - so thank you for putting this in this week's news, Richard.

See you at the Heat Exchange II on Nov 7th.

Best wishes

Cathy
Hi Richard,

Good to hear we are not the only ones who get surpluses - shame we're a distance away though! Are you coming to Heat Exchange at Brockenhurst? We could do a turnips for eggs swap there if you like! Otherwise not to worry.

Good to have your input.

Best wishes

Cathy
Hi Cathy - great idea. I've got plenty of perpetual spinach and some chard - would you like to swap for eggs? I'm planning to go to the Heat Exchange and I live in Brock. so maybe we can do something then?

Thanks

Debby
Hi Debby,

That sounds great thank you!

Our chard bolted this summer so we've sadly not get any for any for over-winter supplies this year. Either spinach or chard or a some of each would be lovely. How may eggs would you like? We always have a surplus - so if you'd like a dozen that would be no problem. Just say what suits you best.

I'll see you at the Heat Exchange on the 7th. If you want to do something before then, send me a personal message (pretty sure this can be done on here!) so we can swap contact details.

Best wishes,

Cathy
Hi Cathy sorry its taken so long to reply - been sorting out my daughters gap year. I can get some spinach and chard - hope its not too old and I'll see what else is available. A dozen eggs would be great. I hope you don't look like your picture! (Same as me). I'll ask around and see who knows you. Richard knows me do you know him? Thanks Deb.
Hi Debby,

Yes, Richard knows me too so he can point us out to each other on Saturday.

Any veg is great thanks and I'll bring you some nice fresh eggs!

See you then!

Cathy
Will endeavour to get the swap to happen! Of course you could always upload pics of yourselves in the meantime.....go on you know you want to!!
Now that really would be a technical challenge for me!! Nice idea though, Richard - might try it when I have a bit more time available - unfortunately still upto my eyes with our little crisis - BTW many thanks for the virtual bouquet - lovely!

See you Saturday!

Cathy
See you tomorrow - and I'd rather have strange photo of myself than an actual strange photo of myself....
